Curiosities and a few questions too:
I have some interest in things like how the Great Pyramids were constructed or why objects feel lighter in water or why horses or dogs used to have thumbs now called chestnuts and dewclaws. I also have an interest in topics like why we have feelings or how feelings affect decision making. Some problems I foresee are finding to much or too little information on some topics, researching and losing interest in a topic for a number of reasons, and I am still not certain on what exactly constitutes science? Does it involve research? And, if so, what constitutes research? (labs vs. discovery?) Can History be science then--for example--archeology i know falls under science, but what about historians or people who try to prove or disprove events in the bible (might be considered a historian)??? Some of the readings we have done really dont have a "scientific-feel" and i think that is probably the style i am going to find the most interest in and also have the easiest time writing about.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a million questions! I think all your questions are a good starting point, and hopefully they will lead you to some interesting discoveries. I particularly like your question about emotions. Don't quote me, but I once learned that we don't learn unless there is an emotion attached to it: the greater the emotion, whether that is fear or excitement, the better we remember things. That would be fascinating to study.
ReplyDeleteI also like your wide breath of interests -- from pyramids to dewclaws. It'll be interesting to see what you choose and find out!
When you think about it, questions are the answers to life... It's when someone steps up and asks a question, another person attempts to answer that question, which invariable leads to another question in some form.
ReplyDeleteCuriosity is the driving force in explaining what the world is around us. I love that your curiosity doesn't seem to be sated by anything... Never give in to that...
Always keep that curiosity alive! It's the fuel that drives us! Keep it up!
